Nagaland Medical Camp, Nov 2016

  • A free medical camp was organized in Nagaland from 25th-30th Nov 2016, with collaboration from several organizations/authorities including the Government of Nagaland, NGOs and the Indian Academy of Echocardiography.
  • The effort at IAE was led by Dr Nitin Burkule, our past president. Four volunteers- Dr Rishikesh Shah, Dr Vatchala Sree, Dr Mohsin Ansari and Dr Sanjay Upreti- participated in the camp on behalf of IAE.
  • IAE also engaged GE to provide free echocardiography equipment for the purpose of the camp, an appreciable gesture on the part of GE.
  • Several hundred patients were clinically examined and more than 150 echocardiograms were performed during this camp.
  • This humanitarian effort received wide media coverage and was greatly appreciated by the Government as well as the people of Nagaland.
  • The Honourable Governor of Nagaland His Highness Mr P B Acharya took personal interest in this camp and felicitated all the volunteers.
  • The IAE volunteers not only generated goodwill among the people, but were also able to showcase the value of echocardiography in clinical practice. IAE volunteers also taught basic echo to local government hospital physicians.
